Choosing a physio can feel like a big decision, especially when pain or injury is stopping you from doing the things you enjoy. Here are some of the questions we’re most often asked before a first appointment at Pursue Health.
No. You can book directly with one of our physiotherapists without a referral.
If you’re not sure who to see or what type of appointment you need, just give our Highett clinic a call on 9131 4977 and our team can help point you in the right direction.
We help with a wide range of injuries, pain and movement problems, including back and neck pain, shoulder, hip and knee pain, muscle and tendon injuries, running and sporting injuries, arthritis and post-operative rehabilitation.
You don’t need to be an athlete to come to Pursue. Whether your goal is getting back to running, returning to the gym, working without pain or simply feeling more confident in everyday life, we’ll tailor your care to what matters to you.
Your first appointment starts with understanding what’s going on.
Your physio will talk with you about your symptoms, health, lifestyle and goals before assessing your movement and the area causing you trouble.
We’ll explain what we think is contributing to the problem in clear language and develop a personalised plan for what happens next.
The aim is for you to leave with greater clarity about your problem and a clear pathway forward.
In most cases, yes.
Depending on what we find during your assessment, your physio may use hands-on treatment, targeted exercise, movement or strength work, education and advice to help you start moving forward.
Just as importantly, we’ll help you understand what you can safely do between appointments.
Yes. Many people come to us after dealing with pain or recurring injuries for months or even years.
Rather than simply focusing on where it hurts, we’ll look at the factors that may be contributing to the problem and what needs to change to help you move forward.
That might include improving movement, rebuilding strength, gradually increasing activity or helping you feel more confident using your body again.
Not necessarily.
One of our goals is to help you stay as active as is appropriate while you recover.
Your physio can help you understand what’s safe to continue, what may need to be temporarily modified and how to gradually build back towards the activities you enjoy.
eeling better is important, but we don't necessarily want your recovery to stop there.
Where appropriate, we'll help you rebuild the movement, strength and capacity you need for your everyday life, exercise or sport.
Depending on your goals, this may include an individual rehabilitation program or progressing into our Physio Exercise Classes.
Our goal is to help you not only recover, but feel stronger and more confident staying active.
Yes. Every person is different, so every treatment plan is too. Your recovery program is tailored to your body, your goals, your lifestyle and the activities you want to get back to.
Yes. Our physiotherapists regularly help with running injuries, gym-related injuries and injuries from community and recreational sport.
Pursue is also here for the everyday active person. You might be training for an event, playing weekend sport, going to the gym, walking the dog or simply wanting to keep your body moving well.
We'll build your treatment and rehabilitation around the activities that matter to you.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows your physiotherapist to assess the area you’re concerned about and see how you move.
If you have any relevant scans, imaging, medical reports or referral letters, please bring those with you. If you don't have scans, that's completely fine—you don't need imaging before booking a physiotherapy appointment.
If your private health insurance includes physiotherapy extras cover, you may be able to claim a rebate for your appointment.
Your rebate will depend on your individual insurer and level of cover, so we recommend checking with your health fund if you're unsure.
Pursue gives you the personalised care and familiarity of a local Highett clinic, backed by the experience and expertise of the wider Physiosports Group.
Our physiotherapists also work alongside our podiatry and exercise team when additional support is helpful.
Most importantly, our approach is built around you: understanding what’s holding you back, giving you a clear plan and helping you build the confidence and capacity to keep doing the things that matter to you.
Simply book a physiotherapy appointment online or call our Highett team on (03) 9131 4977.
We'll start by understanding what's going on, what you want to get back to and what the right next step looks like for you.
